In early 1930, met with the surgeon Dr. Slavan Vidovic, the son of the painter Emanuel Vidovic, who encouraged him to make pure sculpture, that is, no sculptures intended to serve as mere decoration for objects of use. Slavan Vidovic has commissioned and purchased works of Smajić in 1934 and held a solo exhibition for him in the hall Galić in Split. In the same year, Smajić exhibited with the group of artists "Zemlya" in Zagreb. When the Second World War came to Dalmatia in 1941, has stopped making sculptures and moved with his family in Slavonia. The "rediscovery" or the renewed public interest in his work occurred in the early 1950 and then began to create sculptures again .... And 'Ernestinovo died August 19, 1985.
